Get Off Your High “Paperless” Horse: We Have All Wronged Mother Nature

I don’t think I’ve ever thought of all the ills connected to “the environmental unconscious of digital composing” until I read these articles. Each word added flesh and bones to my ignorance, and then ignorance turned to guilt, and guilt to perplexities. And then I could not stop thinking about how many people are actually not aware. And then, for a brief humorous moment, I thought of Han, how high he sits on his anti-technology horse, and what he could be guilty of. And then I moved my thoughts to how much good we think we are doing to the environment when we go paperless. The pride and conviction with which we (including service providers) boast of paperlessness without knowing that we haven’t done much favor for Mother Nature

I was seriously looking for a solution, perplexed at what could be done to salvage this situation. But alas! No solution. Regardless, the awareness created by these scholars is huge, and if connected with the propositions of Thompson and Arola, cultural consciousness will continue to aid intentional decisions, activism, and self-checking.
